Breast Cancer

Breast cancer has claimed the lives of many women from all around the world. Young or old, it doesn’t choose its victims. In order for you to prevent it from happening to you or to your loved ones, you have to know at least the basic facts about it. What really is breast cancer and how do we prevent it?

Breast cancer usually happens when malignant outgrowths in breast tissues appear. These abnormal changes may grow and affect even the healthiest of all cells, leaving nothing behind. When these malignant tumors grow, they spread out to different body parts especially the lymph nodes found in the underarm. Cancer cells break out to spread faster making them very hard to treat ones they have already multiplied throughout the body. Therefore it is important to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages to be able to treat it better.

There are many ways to know if you have breast cancer. One of which is to do a breast-examination on yourself. This can be done by standing in front of a mirror with your breasts exposed. Try to check if there are noticeable signs of dimpling, inflammation, or reddishness on or close to your breasts. Then you should try to use your fingers to feel your breasts for bumps, or try to feel if you have soreness once you touch your breasts in certain ways. If you do discover some bumps and feel soreness in your breasts then it is wise for you to contact your doctor right away.

Your doctor may be able to do a more thorough breast exam on you just to be sure. You may also talk to your doctor about your family background regarding breast cancer and other diseases. With your doctor’s help, you’ll be able to follow a healthy guide, such as eating healthy food and doing some exercise to avoid getting breast cancer or any kind of disease in general.

But the best fool-proof means of detecting breast cancer is through a mammogram. A mammogram is a kind of x-ray that is very effective since it can detect signs of breast cancer, as early as 2 years before a bump in your breast is ever big enough to be felt by a self breast exam. Even though it uses radiation, it is not harmful to your health.

So with all these in mind, you’ll be one step ahead of breast cancer. You won’t have to worry so much anymore if you just utilize this guide to detect breast cancer. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
