Weight Gain and Health Problems

Obesity and being overweight are two conditions that are on the rise everywhere in the world. They are also two conditions that expose people to numerous health risks. So what is the relationship between weight gain and health problems?

Weight gain can be traced to two things, a slow metabolic rate or excessive consumption of fats and carbohydrates.

A slow metabolic rate renders you unable to quickly break down food. This results in its storage in the body as fat. If you consume a lot of fats and carbohydrates and are not very active, they will be stored in the body.

Once fat accumulates in the body it is not easily absorbed in the blood. Most of it is in semisolid form and easily finds its way to the different organs. Clogging of the blood vessels is also imminent.

The blood vessels are the body’s way of transporting oxygen, nutrients and waste products. With fat clogging the blood vessels, this process is hindered. The body organs therefore will have a deficiency of nutrients and oxygen while at the same time accumulates a lot of toxins.

You are therefore exposed to numerous health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. It is therefore important that you keep yourself from gaining too much weight through the following ways.

Eating a healthy diet which comprises all the nutrients needed for proper body functioning. When the body has all the nutrients it needs, then there will be no need to store body fat.

Exercise to burn excess body fat. Exercise is the best way to keep lean. By exercising frequently, you increase the body’s metabolic rate.

Use of weight loss supplements. These are the best way to lose weight fast. However, they should not be used as a substitute for exercise.
